The Kent Smith Family proudly announces that their own Kent Smith was awarded the prestigious Emerald Award at the 2007 United States Association of Gospel Entertainers and Musicians (USAGEM) convention and awards banquet held December 14-16 at the beautiful Montgomery Bell State Park and Resort in Dickson Tennessee. The award was presented to recognize Mr. Smith's forty plus years of service in the gospel music ministry and his commitment to the goal of USAGEM, which is to bring all styles of Christian music together to accomplish the great commission of Christ in unity.  Kent stated "It greatly humbles me to be given such a great honor, especially from my peers and fellow workers in the kingdom of Christ".  Kent was also elected to the USAGEM board of directors at this convention.

The Kent Smith Family proudly announces that their new 15th.Anniversary CD is finished and on sale at their product table at their concerts and online on our product page.  The recording project has been sent out to select radio stations and seems to be well received. The recording is a mixture of new songs, and old favorites, and powerful Christian ballads.  Featured are two brand new original songs written by family members.  First is cut # 1 “I`m saved” written by son-in-law Eric St. Clair, an up tempo number sharing the excitement of knowing Jesus Christ and His saving power.  Second is cut #2 a powerful ballad ”He is There With Me” written by lead singer Eddie Jones` mother Deborah Jones.  This is a message of hope and peace that even in the hardest times of life Christ will never leave or forsake us.  Finishing out the cd are songs like Let your Yes Be Yes, Unworthy, He Ain't Never Done Me Nothing But Good, God Took Away My Yesterdays, Occupy Until I Come, Victory At the Foot of the Cross, Yes I am, and At the Name of Jesus.  We feel that there is a strong and clear message in each song and it is our prayer that this recording will be a blessing to all who hear it.  Also it is with great pride that The Kent Smith Family introduces their tribute CD to the late Fred E. Smith, the original singing Smith.  This CD features eleven songs written and sung by Mr. Smith, with backup vocals by Kent and Karon Smith and will be available on line at our product page shortly.  We honor our heritage with this project of remastered original songs and hope that the anointing in each one will touch the listener. …Yours in Christ's Service, Kent Smith

The Kent Smith Family along with the Joymen Quartet and Compassion Ministries will be in concert at the 9th. grade academy in Fayetteville TN on Friday June 8th, at 7:00 pm.  The concert will benefit the Hospice organization.  We invite you and your family to join us for an evening of great gospel music and fun in support of this fine organization.  For more information call Danny Pigg at (931) 993-7937.

A personal note from Kent
"Karon and I attended the annual USAGEM Awards Banquet last evening in Nashville, TN.  At the ceremony, our friends, The Gardners, received the Group of the Year award for 2006.  Mitch and Michael Gardner were also co-recipients of the prestigious Diamond Award.  From all of The Kent Smith Family, congratulations to The Gardners and may God bless all that you do for Him!"
